Clínica CEMTRO is a prívate medical centre specialising in sports medicine and  traumatology as well as orthopaedic surgery. Almost 13,000 surgeries are performed every year, mainly in these areas, which has made Clinica CEMTRO a reference for football players, Paralympic and Olympic athletes and  other athletes.

Clinica CEMTRO is a close partner of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) concerning the training of technical and medical staff and the assistance and follow-up of football players with regard to any of their needs.

We have developed an injury prevention programme as well as an initial medical check-up for children involved in physical activity.

As an assistance institution, Clínica CEMTRO provides an emergency service specialising in traumatology and sports medicine, which works 24/7 all year round. Specialists in both trauma and sports medicine operate in this unit. Additionally, Clínica CEMTRO has dedicated units for upper limbs (shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist) and lower limbs (hip, knee, foot and ankle); cardiac and exercise physiology; sports physiotherapy and post-surgical rehabilitation.

As an educational institution, it is currently a university campus for the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, hosting over 50 fellow medical residents every year, who come to learn the latest, most relevant and state-of-the-art arthroscopy techniques and sports injury treatments. Together with the aforementioned university, Clínica CEMTRO also houses its official master course in sports traumatology. Nursery training and sports physiotherapy courses are also held on a continuous basis. Special mention must also be given to Clínica CEMTRO’s now internationally acknowledged knee course and symposium held yearly in November and January, both of which bring together national and overseas specialists in this field.

As a research centre, Clínica CEMTRO has a leading unit specialising in cartilage regeneration techniques such as ICC (Instant Cemtrocell) for the treatment of cartilage lesions in athletes. The wireless arthroscopy device (WAD) is another leading innovation generated and developed solely at Clínica CEMTRO by Prof. Pedro Guillén. Tendon pathology and muscle research are also a core component of this research unit, leading to the publishing of consensus documents.

It is Clínica CEMTRO’S mission to bring these leading surgical techniques closer to our everyday patients while maintaining the highest standards of healthcare practice in sports traumatology, while keeping a humane and close contact with patients.
