Welcome to

F-MARC

One of the fundamental objectives of F-MARC is to promote football as a health enhancing leisure activity for both genders throughout life.

There is overwhelming evidence that physical activity is the best prevention for any disease. The “football exercise pill” can be prescribed not only as prevention but can also treat a number of non-communicable diseases, such as, high blood pressure, diabetes, over-weight and others.

In collaboration with the University of Copenhagen and F-MARC, more than 150 researchers from 15 countries have designed research studies which verifies astounding information. To date, 90 original papers have been published and the results should not be ignored. Unrelated to age, blood pressure goes down, the blood sugar decreases including the body mass index and the heart function improves.

This scientific information is justification for the dissemination of the “FIFA 11 for Health” which was originally developed as a Medical Legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, to improve physical performance and learn health messages through playing football regularly. The programme has since been implemented in Central and Latin America, Asia, Oceania and with some modifications even in Europe i.e. Denmark.

On one hand, F-MARC focuses on the reduction of injuries caused when playing football and on the other hand, promotes football as a health enhancing leisure activity.
